O, Miami and project manager Sara Gomez invite South Floridians to participate in a performance piece that engages topics of mental and emotional health through poetry, music, singing, and deep listening in community.
Part I of “Where Do We Go From Here?” Odes to Music That Keeps Us Alive is an open call for poems that celebrate life-giving music.
All are welcome to submit their writing. We are especially welcoming of the voices of South Floridians who identify as suicide survivors, which we define as: anyone who lives/has lived with suicidal ideation, has survived a suicide attempt, and/or the loss of a loved one to suicide.
You and your ode may be selected for inclusion in a live music & poetry show in April 2026 as part of the O, Miami Poetry Festival. Please scroll down for more information on Part II of this project. Participation is optional and voluntary, meaning you can opt out at any time.
Part II of this project will be a live performance featuring local poets, musicians, and Miami’s Threshold Singers, a small group of singers offering tender, acapella melodies to grieving communities in South Florida.
Selected poets will be invited to read their Ode to Music That Keeps Us Alive piece in front of an intimate audience, and then given a short, soothing sound bath by Threshold Singers.
